Building your management team, and supporting them as they take your business to the next level
We must consider what what capacity we have in the team. Ask, are our managers managing protocols, guidelines, standard operating procedures: are they leading and inspiring their team to the best of its ability.
What sort of behaviours and language are they demonstrating? Do they recognise the talent they have? Do they use talent to its full capacity, remember people buy from people. If those people love what they do, their work will never be a burden, but a pleasure, so ask yourself this, are your managers, inspiring and using the talents they have in the team or, are they picking up on every time one of the team miss a performance standard? We all of course know it is important to create consistency, however, if the team only hear the negatives, are they going to bring their best game to town all day, every day.
Take a minute to consider your senior team, what capacity do you have? Do they complement each other, do they have the ability to become an employee champion, or do they prefer to act as "the standard police". How many times have you heard from one of them "he never gets that right, she is hopeless". We must actively listen to the verbal behaviours, they can reveal a lot about the health of the teams.
